Gingerbread Cake

  1. 2 cups self-raising flour
  2. 2 teaspoon ginger
  3. 1 teaspoon allspice
  4. 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  5. 1 teaspoon cloves
  6. ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  7. ½ cup butter
  8. ½ cup dark brown sugar
  9. ½ cup syrup
  10. 2 eggs
  11. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  12. ¼ cup water
  13. 2 tablespoon buttermilk

  1. Icing sugar
  2. Butter
  3. Cream cheese
  4. Vanilla


  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl and all the wet ingredients except water and mix well.
  4. Add flour and mix, and water and mix well.
  5. Pour into a greased pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and cool for a while before removing from the pan and cooling completely on the wire rack.
  7. Prepare the frosting and frost the cake.
  8. Enjoy.
